Germany's Key Industry
Overview
The German Automotive Industry is the key industry in Germany and generated a turnover of 564 billion euros in 2023 and employed 780 people (source: BMWK).
Three of the ten largest automotive suppliers in the world come from Germany, including the top two (Bosch and Continental)(Source: statista).
At the same time, the automotive industry is the German industry that is currently facing the greatest challenges (Link: Germany on the road to the electric car).
The increasingly apparent technology shift from the combustion engine to the electric drive is changing both suppliers and manufacturers. Where some areas are losing their raison d'être or are being relocated to other regions of the world, new technologies that previously played a subordinate role are becoming increasingly important.
In recent years, electrical engineering and software departments have been increasingly strengthened in some companies and many suppliers have created completely new business areas.
In 2023, 18 percent of all vehicles registered worldwide were from Germany.

What we do
Gebrüder Schwanke is supporting this change at a major car manufacturer and is helping to build up the power electronics division for electromobility there.
The overview of the departments at suppliers and competitors gained in the course of these projects has led to a deep understanding of electronics development.
We were not only looking for system developers (link: case study), but also software engineers with demonstrable experience in the development of automotive control units (ASIL C and D).
For this purpose, not only the area of electromobility was analyzed, but also the areas of autonomous driving and classic ECU development.
